Pre-hospital emergency medical services in Pemberton Township are provided under contract with Lourdes EMS. The contract provides for one dedicated ambulance to be available for service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In addition, starting on October 1, 2010, the Township contracted with Lourdes EMS for a second dedicated ambulance to be available Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Local volunteer emergency medical service organizations - Browns Mills EMS and Pemberton First Aid Squad - provide backup support services.
In most cases, patients will be transported to the Lourdes Emergency Department at Deborah, located in Browns Mills. The partnership between Lourdes and Deborah substantially minimizes the ambulance crew's travel and turnaround time. This means that the ambulance crew can be available for a new call for service in a matter of minutes rather than the 45 minutes to an hour required by a transport to other Burlington County hospitals.
